About us
We are package dyers of all fibres. There has been dyeing at Bridgehaugh since 1906. We have resurrected the art on a new purpose built dyehouse on our own 2 acre site next to the River Ettrick in Selkirk, Scotland.
We dye on cone and parallel-sided packs as well as taller tubes in the filament industry.
We use the naturally soft Scottish water from our own well, which is fed by St Mary’s Loch and Megget dam at the head of the Yarrow Valley. This helps to give us the brightest of hues.
Natural dyes used to dye tartan colours was done, but has now passed into history to be replaced by modern reactive dyes, with superior fastness to washing and light.
We offer a bespoke and comprehensive colour service. Computer controlled machines and our colour matching spectrophotometer ensures the latest standard is matched. There are approximately three million discernable shades in the spectrum and our dyers have probably seen them all. Although the latest spectrophotometer is used in matching in recipe production, our dyers have the last say and colour is matched by eye.
Gently drying in the latest Dehumidification plant and RF ensures that the fibre is the exact regain (moisture content) at the end of the process in order that weaving is efficient.
We offer preparatory or soft winding to ensure optimum liquor ratios. We also have after-winding to measured length. The yarn can be lubricated and waxed to suit.
Twisting is available on our Volkmann plant.
Primarily installed for 2 colour marls to give designers a choice on the construction of yarns and designs.
